The art space SUPER has expanded its activity with the series EDITION, turning from an exhibition space to an evening program between portfolio presentation and communicative practice. For EDITION # 3 an exchange with the art space SELECTO PLANTA BAJA from Los Angeles took place. With the current edition # 4 the international exchange continues. Together with the art space EKKISENS in Reykjavik in cooperation with on site, EDITION # 4 shows 20 positions of Icelandic and Austrian contemporary art. Here, two exhibitions took place in two cities at the same time. Only a video link connects the two locations with each other and shows the opening via life-stream taking place simultaneously in the other art space.

EKKISENS is an artist run space which aims to promote the works of emerging icelandic and international artists located in a basement in the center of Reykjavík city. Ekkisens additionally curates a series of squat exhibitions and house occupations in empty and available spaces to promote sustainability of art exhibitions and activate creativity. The name of the art space comes from an old curse word (purportedly of Danish origin) that the late owner of the house, Helga Friðrika Bæringsdóttir, used unsparingly. Her grand-granddaugther and artist Freyja Eilíf founded Ekkisens in autumn 2014. The space is her grandfather’s former apartment/studio and her grandmother Didda currently lives on the second floor. Current artistic directors of Ekkisens, curating exhibitions and other art projects are Freyja Eilíf Logadóttir and Heiðrún Gréta Viktorsdóttir.

on site is a non-profit art organisation working internationally for the promotion of young contemporary art. Through the realization of national and international exhibitions and projects we aim to encourage international exchange and mobility as well as to support young artists to present themselves also beyond their national borders.
